They (engineering) were proud of how startup time decreases dramtically if you remove all the packages. The package loading thing at startup right? Perfect example. I just think that there is a language problem and their definition of what is performance issues is not what we see. They actually have been spending time on performance. If yo ujmanage package Repos this makes life so much easier, many thanks Lothar it is great! cyberres/idm/w/identity_mgr_tips/15701/parcel-service-for-netiq-designer-4-5-and-later Was a bug in 4.8 that even though the setting is 1Meg of history files for 1 day, it was not being honoured if you imported a project into Designer, you would get 1 history file for every object in the project, so potentially hundreds of megs. (Which is dumb, don t use it, or else it will slow down).Ĭheck your history, and make sure it is not super huge. Most of the slow downs seem to be Garbage Colection related. Deselect versions or entire sets of packages.

Each package is loaded and into memory every startup, so you can trim down the packages (Using Lothars Parcel Service, which is AWESOME and better) or using the manager. In 4.8 one of the things they added was a manager for installed Packages. (I am not sure where to get it, I know I have a copy). Do you have Lothars tool to remove old versions of JARs from Designer? Run that, since after you patch, you end up removing 200-500MB of duplicate JARs, all of which are loaded during startup or at least considered.
